The Story of Service - Wreaths Across America Free Mobile Exhibit This Weekend

Wreaths Across America, the organization behind the annual wreath-laying ceremonies that have become a cherished part of our local holiday season, is bringing its Mobile Education Exhibit to our area this week — and it's completely free and open to all ages.

The exhibit is a 48-foot traveling showcase equipped with a screening room where visitors can watch the Wreaths Across America mission come to life on video, three interactive computer stations, and a wall of information covering the organization's history, values, and impact. Volunteers will be on hand throughout to share how the program has grown into a staple of East Tennessee's patriotic community — and to show you how you can get involved.

The exhibit makes two local stops: first at the Food City in Newport (181 Western Plaza Drive) on May 29th-30th from 10:00 AM–6:00 PM, then closer to home at the Food City at Deane Hill Center (284 Morrell Road), on May 31st-June 1st from 10:00 AM–6:00 PM.

Whether you're a longtime supporter of Wreaths Across America or you've always been curious about the program, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect with a community that cares deeply about honoring those who served. More Info

Lace Up for a Good Cause at the Saving Grace 5K at Victor Ashe Park

The Saving Grace 5K takes place at Victor Ashe Park (4901 Bradshaw Road) on June 6th — and whether you're a seasoned racer or someone who just wants to walk a mile for a meaningful cause, there's a distance for you.

Participants can choose the 5K, the 10K, or the 1-mile run/walk, with the course starting near the main pavilion and winding out along the paved greenway path. Awards go to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K, as well as to the top performers in each age group — and a virtual option is available for those who can't make it in person.

The race benefits Saving Grace, a Knoxville women's home offering faith-based recovery support for women overcoming drug dependency and abuse. Every registration helps fund the life-changing work they do right here in our community. Sign up before May 25th to snag a race t-shirt with your entry for the 5K and 10K. More Info & Signup

The Money Community Local Readers Have Been Joining All Month - Here's What's Actually In It

If Mikey Caloca's name has been showing up in this newsletter and you've been meaning to check it out - this is the short version of what you actually get in Mikey's Money House:

  • 3 live classes every week on rotating topics - credit, debt payoff, saving, side hustles, investing, organizing your accounts. Show up, ask questions, get answers.

  • A full curriculum with chapters and videos you can start tonight, plus 75 hours of past classes in the library.

  • Direct access to Mikey. You can DM him privately, and members can book a 1-hour 1-on-1 call with him.

  • $500+ in giveaways every month - he spins a wheel and hands out gift cards to members who post their wins.

  • A community that doesn't make money weird. As Mikey puts it: "There is nowhere on the internet that you can openly join people in such a difficult topic."

Money problems compound quietly. So does the work to fix them. The difference between people who get out and people who stay stuck usually isn't intelligence or willpower - it's whether they had a room of people doing it alongside them.

Mikey built that room. He'll tell you himself: "I think you belong here."

Fashion Meets Conservation as Fleurish Returns to Ijams

This is not your average fashion show. Fleurish: A Sustainable Fashion Event celebrates its 5th year at Ijams Nature Center on June 14th from 6:00 PM–9:00 PM — and this year's theme, Technicolor, is all about love: the love of creativity, community, and the natural world.

The evening opens with a cocktail hour from 6:00 PM–7:30 PM featuring passed appetizers and signature cocktails, a green carpet photo op, and education stations highlighting conservation efforts in the fashion industry. Then the runway comes alive as models showcase stunning looks from local designers — all crafted from reusable and recycled materials — on Ijams' iconic outdoor hillside setting.

After the show, guests are invited to meet the artists and designers in person. More Info
