Rêve Row Hat Bar & Boutique is open at 708 W. Emory Road in Powell, and the concept is exactly the kind of thing that makes you wonder why it didn't exist here sooner. Part hat bar, part boutique — you can come in, build a custom hat, shop the store, and make an afternoon of it.

The hat bar is the standout. Custom hat building isn't a common find in Knoxville, and Rêve Row is bringing that experience to a neighborhood boutique setting — which means you get the personalization without the drive to Nashville. Whether you're looking for a summer staple or something with a little more personality, the hat bar lets you walk out with something that's actually yours.

The boutique side adds reason to linger. Between customizing your hat and browsing the shop, this is the kind of place that turns into a longer visit than you planned — which is a good thing.

One hundred years. If there's anyone who deserves a mailbox full of love, it's Mamaw Johnnie. Johnnie Ellison of Powell turns 100 years old on August 12th, and her family is requesting birthday cards to fill her mailbox.

One of Johnnie's favorite things in life is opening the mail. Most days the box is full of bills and junk — but for her 100th birthday, her family wants to change that. They're hoping to fill her mailbox with birthday wishes, kind words, and reminders that she is loved by more people than she knows. Cards can be handwritten or store-bought. Anything counts. Anything brightens her day.

In 100 years, Johnnie Ellison has given a lot to the people around her — love, sass, lessons, and a way of making sure everyone she encountered knew they mattered. Her greatest joys these days are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her Chicken Soup for the Soul word search books, and the simple things. She is, by all accounts, the heart of her family.

Karns Fair is introducing Sneak Peek 2026 — a brand-new preview evening on July 17th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, giving families a special first look at the fairgrounds before Saturday's full opening. The outdoor section opens up for a family-friendly evening with half-price rides, entertainment, live music, food, and games. It's the official kickoff to the 73rd Annual Karns Community Fair, and by the sound of it, it's going to become an annual tradition.

The full fair runs Saturday, so Sneak Peek is a great way to beat the weekend crowd, take advantage of the discount pricing, and still have room on the calendar to go back the next day for everything you didn't get to. First-ever events have a way of feeling like something special. More Info

KnoxvilleRob.com is hosting a National Ice Cream Day celebration with Rob Howard on July 19th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Suttree Landing Park (1001 Waterfront Drive SE) — free to attend, with free parking too.

Come for the ice cream, stay for the door prizes. The afternoon kicks off at 2:00 PM with the celebration and a chance to register for giveaways, then wraps up with drawings at 3:30 PM — including a Smart TV and other prizes. Two hours on the waterfront with cool treats and a shot at walking away with something extra isn't a bad way to spend a Sunday.

Suttree Landing Park is one of those Knoxville spots that earns its reputation every summer — open air, right on the water, and easy to get to from most parts of the city. Free parking on site means you don't have to think too hard about it.
