If you're in the mood for a big stadium rock night in Knoxville this summer, it doesn't get much bigger than this.

Shinedown — one of the best-selling rock bands of the past two decades, with a list of number-one singles longer than most bands' entire catalogs — brings the Dance Kid Dance Act II World Tour to Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center on Saturday, July 25th at 7:00 PM.

The support lineup is stacked: Coheed and Cambria, the Long Island progressive rock band whose devoted fanbase borders on cultish (in the best possible way), joins the bill alongside Ashes To New and DJ Rockfeed. That's a full night of live music across three acts before Shinedown even takes the stage.

One more thing worth knowing: Shinedown is donating $1 per ticket sold to City of Hope, one of the country's leading cancer research organizations. More Info

The South Carolina rock band — known for the kind of sweeping, emotionally loaded indie rock that ends up on driving playlists and wedding soundtracks in equal measure — brings An Evening With Band of Horses and Dinosaur Jr. to the Tennessee Theatre (604 S Gay St) on July 20th at 7:30 PM.

The double-billing is worth paying attention to. Dinosaur Jr. is one of the foundational acts of American alternative rock — a Massachusetts band that's been grinding since 1984, influencing nearly every guitar-heavy indie and grunge act that came after them. More Info

Tennessee Stage Company is presenting its 36th Knoxville Shakespeare Festival on the grounds of Ijams Nature Center (2915 Island Home Ave.), and this summer they're bringing two shows to the lawn: Merry Wives of Windsor and King Henry V.

Merry Wives is about as funny as Shakespeare gets — a scheming knight named Falstaff tries to court two married women at the same time, and the wives have absolutely no intention of letting him get away with it. King Henry V goes the other direction entirely: royal ambition, battlefield speeches, political intrigue, and the famous "Once more, unto the breach" moment that still gives people chills.

Shows run through August 9th. Nightly performances start at 7:30 PM (doors at 7:00 PM); matinees at 2:00 PM (doors at 1:30 PM). Tickets are $15 for reservations or at the door — and every Thursday evening is Pay-What-You-Can, which is a genuinely rare thing for this level of production. Coming up: Pay-What-You-Can on July 23rd, July 30th, and August 6th.

Rain space is available inside the Visitor Center, so no need to check the forecast twice. More Info

Tennessee's largest Halloween and horror convention turns 10 this year. CreepyCon 2026 takes over the Knoxville Convention Center (701 Henley Street) from July 31st through August 2nd — three days of celebrity meet-and-greets, vendors, workshops, film screenings, panels, costume contests, and live entertainment under one roof.

The celebrity guest list this year is built for horror fans who know their history. Kane Hodder, who played Jason Voorhees in four Friday the 13th films, is there. Bill Moseley (Chop Top from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Otis from House of 1000 Corpses) is there. Felissa Rose from Sleepaway Camp is there. Ve Neill — the three-time Oscar-winning makeup artist behind Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Mrs. Doubtfire — is there. And Tim Jacobus, the artist who painted the original covers for the Goosebumps series, is there for everyone who grew up being mildly terrified of a paperback book.

Oh, and GWAR is a celebrity guest. Just let that land for a second.

The Friday night kickoff goes off-site: GWAR + Twiztid live at The Mill & Mine (227 W Depot Ave) starting at 8:00 PM, 18 and up, $49 — tickets through The Mill & Mine box office.

🗓️ July 18th - The Bat Walk at Collier Preserve (off Paper Mill Road) from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM, Master Gardeners are leading a guided bat walk at dusk — a chance to learn about the species that call this preserve home and why bats matter so much to the local ecosystem.
