Cody Johnson brings his 2026 Live Tour to Thompson-Boling Arena on Saturday, at 7:30 PM — and if you haven't locked in tickets yet, now's the time.

Johnson is one of the most talked-about names in country music right now: a Texas-raised, independent-minded artist who built his following the old-fashioned way, one honky tonk at a time, before the industry caught up to what he was doing. Magnolia Art House celebrates its Grand Opening on August 22nd from Noon to 6:00 PM at 1405 E. Magnolia Avenue — a new venue joining the growing arts spaces along the Magnolia corridor. It's the kind of opening that marks a genuine addition to the city's creative scene: a dedicated space for art to be made, shown, and experienced by the community.

Clarence Brown Theatre presents Jeffrey Hatcher's electrifying adaptation of Dial M for Murder — opening night September 4th at 7:30 PM at the Clarence Brown Theatre on the UT campus. The show runs through September 20th, with performances most Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM.

The premise is deliciously tense: a jealous husband hatches a meticulously plotted murder — and then watches it begin to unravel. Secrets surface, alibis crumble, and the audience is pulled deeper into a breathless game of cat and mouse where every revelation tightens the noose a little further. Hatcher's adaptation keeps everything that made Frederick Knott's original a classic while adding new crackle and danger throughout.

The cast features professional Equity actors led by Kat Lee as Margot Wendice, Christopher Joel Onken as Tony Wendice, and David Brian Alley — who is beginning his remarkable 27th season with the Clarence Brown Company — as Inspector Hubbard. Director Melissa Maxwell helms the production.

A few dates worth noting: September 2nd is a Pay What You Can preview performance. September 15th is Orange & White Night at 6:30 PM, featuring special pricing including discounts for UT faculty and staff. And the September 13th matinee includes a post-show talkback with the cast and creative team.

Runtime is 2 hours and 15 minutes with one intermission. Content advisory: mature themes including violence, attempted murder, domestic abuse, and infidelity. More Info

The Tennessee Valley Fair opens at Chilhowee Park on September 11th and runs through September 20th — ten days of everything that makes a real county fair: agricultural competitions, carnival rides, fair food, exhibits, and the kind of community atmosphere that only shows up once a year. Over 125,000 visitors from across the region will make their way through the gates before it's over.

This year's concert lineup at the grandstand is stacked. Braxton Keith performs September 13th, Avery Anna on September 14th, Tucker Wetmore on September 15th, T.I. on September 17th, and Tracy Byrd closes out the fair on September 20th. Tickets to individual concerts are sold separately from fair admission.
