Museum of Appalachia Fall Heritage Days
The Museum of Appalachia Fall Heritage Days returns for four days, October 22nd, 23rd, 29th, and 30th — at the museum's stunning 35-acre grounds in Norris. This is the region's most immersive celebration of early Appalachian life at harvest time, with skilled artisans and educators demonstrating the crafts, foods, and traditions that defined this corner of the mountains.
Demonstrations include open fire cooking, storytelling, shape-note singing, rug hooking, pumpkin carving, sorghum mill, basket making, spinning and weaving, broom making, lard rendering, blacksmithing, lye soap making, coopering, wood carving, soldier and seamstress demonstrations, quilting, corn milling, and flintknapping — among others. It's the kind of event where you come for one hour and stay for three.
