K Town Sound Show Chorus is putting together its Christmas Chorus — and they're looking for women who want to sing a cappella barbershop-style for the holidays. No pressure, no commitment, no cost.

Rehearsals run Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, October 8th through December 10th, at Redeemer City Church at Oakwood (111 E Columbia Ave). Come try it out, sing with the group, and see if it's something you love. If you decide to join permanently, great — if not, you still got to spend a few Thursday evenings making music with a great group of women.

The season wraps with the Christmas Show on December 12th, also at Redeemer City Church at Oakwood. The chorus performs a cappella in the barbershop style alongside the full K Town Sound Show Chorus — a beautiful evening of holiday music and community. More Info

If your Tuesday evenings need a little more chaos — the good kind — Knoxville Dodgeball has been running weekly drop-in games at the Farragut Community Center Gym every Tuesday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM since April 2025, and the doors are open to anyone 18 and up.

No team required. No signup. Just show up, pay $2 at the door, and play. The format is casual and welcoming for first-timers, but don't let that fool you — it gets competitive. More Info

The 11th Annual Maker City Summit comes to Knoxville January 29th–31st, 2027, and early bird tickets are available now through October 31st — with the best price you'll find all season.

This year's theme is handMADE: a deliberate focus on work made by actual people, with real hands and real hours behind it. The weekend includes keynote talks, workshops, panels, and breakout sessions for makers at every stage — whether you're a part-time hobbyist or a full-time creative entrepreneur.

Three keynote speakers anchor the weekend. Debbie Millman — host of the long-running Design Matters podcast and one of the most influential designers working today — delivers Changing Brands, Branding Change, a look at the human instinct behind how we make and mark things. Kim Robinson, founder of 3pts and a business development expert for creative founders, makes the case in The Rituals of Creative Success that sustainable creative businesses are built on small daily choices, not motivation. And Aaron Draplin of Draplin Design Co. — the man behind work for rock bands, restaurants, and festivals — closes out the keynote lineup with a talk on what happens when you let creativity into every corner of your life.

The weekend kicks off January 29th at 5:30 PM with an Opening Soirée at The Maker Exchange. Saturday and Sunday bring the full summit programming.

On October 8th at 10:00 AM, the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Tuckaleechee Garden Club, TFGC District IV will formally dedicate a Red, White and Blue Garden to Honor Veterans at the Ivan Racheff House and Gardens (1943 Tennessee Avenue) — part of the national Plant America 250 initiative celebrating America's 250th anniversary.

The Ivan Racheff House and Gardens is a longtime Knoxville landmark and a designated stop on the Knoxville Dogwood Arts Trail. The addition of a patriot garden — planted with red, white, and blue blooms in honor of the men and women who served — makes an already meaningful place even more so.

The event is free and open to the public, rain or shine.

🗓️ September 22nd - The Farragut Museum's History Hour speaker series continues on September 22nd at 11:00 AM at Farragut Town Hall (11408 Municipal Center Drive). The featured speaker is Dr. Chris Magra, Professor of Early American History at the University of Tennessee and Director of the Center for the Study of Tennesseans and War. Dr. Magra will present on the military history of the Declaration of Independence.
