Big Ridge Bluegrass Festival Returns

Get ready to tap your feet and enjoy the sounds of traditional Bluegrass music at the 43rd annual Big Ridge Bluegrass Festival on Friday, August 16th, from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM. This beloved one-day event, set against the beautiful backdrop of Big Ridge State Park, is a perfect summer evening of music, arts, and community.

Dr. Biscotti and the Human Condition

Boundaries. Choices. Happenstance. is an original play by Lisa Soland, produced by Theater 23. The story unfolds in the office of a psychologist, Dr. Biscotti, as he reflects on a recent tragic event. The play explores the lives of his clients, whose choices lead them down intertwining paths toward unexpected outcomes. As the psychologist navigates this web of psychological challenges, he is forced to confront his own humanity.

The play will be performed at the Knoxville Convention Center on Friday, September 20th, and Saturday, September 21st, at 7:30 PM, with additional shows on Saturday and Sunday, September 21st and 22nd, at 2:30 PM. More Info/Tickets

Across the Universe

Join Ijams and Central Cinema on August 16 for a special outdoor screening of the rock musical Across the Universe. Set in the turbulent late 1960s, this film re-imagines America through war, love, and rebellion, all set to a Beatles soundtrack. The story follows British worker Jude, who comes to the U.S. in search of his father and ends up entangled in a love affair with Lucy, set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War.

The event takes place on the Visitor Center lawn at Ijams. Doors open at 7 PM, with the movie starting around 8:45 PM. Food trucks and the Ijams beer garden will offer food and drinks for purchase. Tickets are $12 per person, including parking, with discounts for Ijams and Central Cinema members. Dogs on leashes are welcome, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Sausagefest 2024

at Last Days of Autumn Brewing

Get ready for the 7th annual Sausagefest! This all-you-can-eat event is set for a fun-filled day with live music, delicious food, and plenty of sausages. The festivities kick off with the "lighting of the grill" ceremony at 5:00 PM, followed by a feast from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Steph Cabell will provide live music starting at 7:00 PM.

The menu features a variety of sausages, including Bratwurst with apples and sauerkraut, Italian Sausage with peppers and marinara, Polish Sausage with German potato salad, and more. Hot dogs for the kids and fresh grilled corn on the cob will also be available. Tickets can be purchased online through the provided link. Don’t forget to wear your stretchy pants!

Tea in 18th Century America at Marble Springs State Historic Site

On Saturday, August 17, at 11 AM, Marble Springs State Historic Site invites you to a charming tea party as part of their "Beyond Petticoats" series. This educational program, "Tea in 18th-Century America," will transport you to the colonial era, exploring tea culture, customs, and etiquette of the 1700s.

Enjoy a selection of teas reminiscent of those thrown into the Boston Harbor, paired with homemade butter cookies. Vallie Prince, owner of The Kraken's Cup Tearoom, will present fascinating insights into the history of tea and its significance in 18th-century America.
