"Turn Up Knox" Sees Success in Reducing Violence
Turn Up Knox, a violence interruption program, has made significant strides in reducing violence perpetrated with guns through street outreach, with the city reporting a 30% drop in homicides after the first year. Last week, the Knoxville City Council discussed funding an additional $450,000 for the program, with mixed opinions from council members. Despite some concerns about financial transparency, the council approved the funding 7-1, acknowledging the positive impact Turn Up Knox has had in our community.
