Schulz Bräu Brewing's Christkindlesmarkt

Experience the charm of a traditional German Christmas market right here in Knoxville at Schulz Bräu Brewing's Christkindlesmarkt! This beloved event captures the essence of the holiday season, inspired by the festive markets that originated in Germany during the late Middle Ages.

Schulz Bräu hosted its first Christkindlesmarkt in 2021, bringing the community together in a warm celebration of German holiday culture. The event incorporates authentic traditions like serving Glühwein (a spiced mulled wine), live Polka bands performing classic Christmas songs, and a curated selection of vendors offering only handcrafted goods. Visitors can also enjoy an array of delicious German sweets, adding to the festive cheer.

Held over five consecutive weekends leading up to Christmas, the market is the perfect place for shopping, drinking, socializing, and celebrating after a long year. From finding unique gifts to savoring German holiday treats, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

This year’s Christkindlesmarkt will take place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from November 29 to December 22. Hours are Fridays from 3 PM to 8 PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 8 PM.

CHANUKAH MUSIC FEST

The Amadeus Concert Ensemble invites the Knoxville community to a joyful and inspiring Chanukah Music Fest on Sunday, December 8, at 4:00 p.m. at the Arnstein Jewish Community Center (6800 Deane Hill Drive, Knoxville, TN). This free event, directed by the renowned Maestro Brian Salesky, is open to all, with free parking and no reservations required.

This unique musical celebration spans three centuries of styles, highlighting the rich cultural and historical significance of Chanukah. The program is thoughtfully divided into five sections, each reflecting a special aspect of the holiday:

  • Chanukah Menorah Ceremony

  • Ladino Hanuka Kantikas

  • Yiddish Chanike Lieder

  • Honoring the Maccabees

  • Chanukah Folksongs

The evening will feature a talented quartet of vocal soloists, led by acclaimed Puerto Rican soprano Abigail Santos Villalobos, known for her leading roles with prestigious opera companies such as the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Houston Grand Opera. She will be joined by alto Diana Salesky, tenor John Overholt, and baritone Joel Brown, alongside the Stanford Eisenberg Knoxville Jewish Day School Choir.

The program will also include special appearances by Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon and Keith Barber, President of the East Tennessee Foundation, adding to the festive and inclusive atmosphere.
