A Victorian Christmas
Step back in time and immerse yourself in the nostalgic charm of the 19th century at Maryville College's annual Christmas Concert, A Victorian Christmas. This enchanting evening of music and holiday spirit will take place on Tuesday, December 3, at 7:00 PM in the Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre at the Clayton Center for the Arts (502 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway)
The Maryville College Music Department invites the community to celebrate the season with beloved holiday classics, rich choral traditions, and a warm, festive atmosphere. This year’s program features performances by: The Orchestra at Maryville, conducted by Ace Edewards, The Community Chorus, directed by Dwight Dockery, Maryville College Concert Choir, Off Kilter, and Lassies, led by Stacey Murphy Wilner, & The Lads, conducted by Jenny Anderson
The evening will include timeless seasonal favorites such as “Sleigh Ride,” “Greensleeves,” and “I Saw Three Ships.” Highlighting the concert are two stunning larger works: Christmas Day by Gustav Holst and Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Ralph Vaughan Williams, with guest soloist K.C. Armstrong. Armstrong, renowned for his performances with esteemed ensembles such as The Aspen Festival Orchestra and The National Symphony Orchestra, will bring an extra touch of magic to the evening.
“A Victorian Christmas concert is truly a special experience,” says Stacey Murphy Wilner, Director of Choral Activities. “The music captures the holiday season's spirit, showcasing timeless carols, hymns, and melodies that celebrate family, community, and joy. We hope the concert offers a heartwarming and memorable start to your holiday season.”
Don’t miss this magical evening of music and tradition! More Info
