Learn Boating Safety with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s BOAT AMERICA Course
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is dedicated to promoting safe boating practices and is offering two separate BOAT AMERICA recreational boating safety courses this March. These informative classes will be held on:
Saturday, March 8th at The Church at Sterchi Hills, 904 Dry Gap Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918
Saturday, March 15th at Carson-Newman University, 1645 Russell Avenue, Jefferson City, TN 37760
Taught by experienced and certified Coast Guard Auxiliarists, the BOAT AMERICA course is designed to equip boaters with the knowledge necessary to navigate, operate, and prepare their vessels safely on local waters. In addition to fundamental safety principles, participants will also practice essential boating knots commonly used in powerboating. The instructors encourage questions during class and will remain available afterward to address additional boating concerns.
For individuals born on or after January 1, 1989, successful completion of the course will result in a completion card that meets the Tennessee Boater Education Certificate requirements. However, those needing the official Tennessee Boater Education Certificate must first obtain a TWRA registration, which costs $10.00 and is payable separately through issuing agencies such as Walmart or Academy Sports. This TWRA registration must be presented at the class.
The course fee is $25, payable at the time of registration, and is separate from the TWRA registration fee.
Registration Deadlines:
March 8th class – Register by March 4th
March 15th class – Register by March 11th
To secure your spot or for additional details, contact Mr. Randy Woods, Flotilla Staff Officer for Public Education, at [email protected].
This course is an excellent opportunity for boaters of all experience levels to enhance their safety knowledge and ensure an enjoyable time on the water. Don't miss out on this chance to become a more confident and responsible boater!
