Walk ‘N’ Roll Event Invites you to Support Families with Disabilities

Families are invited to come together for a meaningful and fun community event during the 3rd Annual Walk ‘N’ Roll, hosted by Joni and Friends Knoxville. The event will celebrate connection, inclusion, and awareness while supporting families living with disability.
This year’s event is especially significant as the Joni and Friends Knoxville office celebrates its 25th anniversary of ministry in the region. Walk ‘N’ Roll is designed to be a fully inclusive and accessible event for people of all abilities, welcoming families, friends, and community members to gather for an afternoon of encouragement and fun.
Participants will take part in a group walk/roll around the track, symbolizing support and unity for individuals and families impacted by disability. In addition to the walk, attendees can enjoy a variety of games, snacks, and family-friendly activities hosted by local community partners.
Those who want to take their participation a step further can register as Fundraising Champions, creating a personal fundraising page to help raise support for the work of Joni and Friends Knoxville. Participants are also welcome to attend simply as general participants and enjoy the activities.
The event is free and open to everyone, though organizers ask that attendees register in advance through the event webpage. All funds raised will go directly toward supporting the programs and outreach of Joni and Friends Knoxville, which serves families impacted by disability throughout the region.
Community members who want to celebrate inclusion, support local families, and enjoy a positive afternoon together are encouraged to gather their friends and join the Walk ‘N’ Roll. More Info & Register
Blount Mansion Lecture Explores Knoxville Women’s Role in Education and Community

The Blount Mansion Association will host a special lecture titled “Knoxville Women: Education and Hope” on March 12that 6:00 PM at the Blount Mansion Visitors Center (200 West Hill Avenue).
The presentation will explore the vital role women have played in shaping Knoxville’s educational and cultural landscape over the past 250 years. The lecture will highlight how women—especially those often overlooked in historical narratives—helped sustain learning and community life across generations. From enslaved and formerly enslaved Black women who passed down literacy and cultural knowledge, to working-class women who nurtured education outside formal institutions, these educators left a lasting impact on Knoxville despite significant social barriers.
The evening’s featured speaker, Dr. Hawkins, is a nationally recognized educator and author of Black Girl in the Middle, published by Corwin Press. She also serves as a guest lecturer for National University and contributes to numerous educational publications. Dr. Hawkins has received national recognition for her work in education, including being named National University Teacher of the Year in 2021, and she has also been recognized as one of Knoxville’s “40 Under 40” most influential leaders.
The event will take place inside the Blount Mansion Visitors Center, adjacent to the historic home that once served as the residence of William Blount, a signer of the U.S. Constitution and the first governor of the Southwest Territory. Today, the site is preserved as Knox County’s only National Historic Landmark and offers visitors a unique window into the region’s early history.
A $10 donation is suggested at the door, with both cash and card accepted. Limited free parking is available onsite, and guests are encouraged to RSVP in advance.
Proceeds from the lecture will benefit the Blount Mansion Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the historic site and sharing the rich stories of the people who shaped Knoxville’s past. More Info

Home Plans on Your Mind? Here’s Where to Start
If buying or selling a home has been on your mind, the best place to start is simply learning the process and surrounding yourself with the right professionals.
It’s a good idea to interview a few real estate agents before choosing who to work with. Every agent works a little differently, and you deserve someone who communicates well, understands your goals, and knows the local market. Don’t hesitate to ask questions!
It’s also important to talk openly about commission and services upfront. Commissions are negotiable, and a good agent should clearly explain how they’re structured and what support you can expect along the way.
For buyers, speaking with a lender early and getting pre-approved can help you understand your budget and make your offers stronger. For sellers, discussing pricing, small repairs, and preparing your home for showings can make a big difference in how quickly and successfully your home sells.
Real estate doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With the right information and the right team, it can be an exciting and rewarding process. And if you ever have questions along the way, feel free to give us a call—we’re always happy to help answer questions and point you in the right direction.
