Search Underway for Missing 64-Year-Old Man in West Knox County

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has initiated a Silver Alert as they join the effort to locate a 64-year-old man reported missing from West Knox County since Monday.

Local law enforcement from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office are actively looking for Arthur Henry Jones, 64, who was last seen departing the Napa Valley Way area in Knoxville around noon on Monday, February 19th.

Jones is described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing around 180 pounds, with green eyes and gray hair. It has been noted that he has certain conditions that could hinder his ability to return home on his own and he might be using a walking cane.

The community is urged to come forward with any information regarding Jones' whereabouts by contacting the Knox County Sheriff’s Office at (865) 215-2243 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. More Info (with photo)

Traffic Jam and Tasty Chaos: Pop-Tarts Spill on I-640 West

Early this morning, an incident occurred on I-640 West involving a tractor-trailer loaded with Pop-Tarts. The accident, which took place before 7am near mile marker six in the Whittle Springs neighborhood of North Knoxville, led to traffic being reduced to a single lane.

The tractor-trailer, which was carrying approximately 40,000 Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts, overturned, prompting immediate action. Mark Nagi from the Tennessee Department of Transportation reported that the vehicle has been moved to the roadside to facilitate the offloading of the Pop-Tarts.

Authorities are on the scene managing traffic flow and cleanup operations. Drivers are advised to exercise caution when traveling through this area and to anticipate potential delays as the recovery process continues.

Misleading Flyer Stirs Controversy in Knox County School Board Race

Robert Daspit, a candidate for the Knox County District 3 Board of Education, recently voiced his displeasure over a misleading flyer distributed last week, which he received in the mail. The flyer, which aimed to compare Daspit and his opponent Angie Goethert on several key issues, inaccurately represented Daspit's positions. It left spaces blank or falsely attributed statements to him on topics such as Parents’ Rights, School Safety, and Save Women’s Sports, while the section on school choice referenced a February 2024 interview that Daspit contests, clarifying his support for school vouchers just this Monday.

Daspit has stated he is unsure of the flyer's origin. When questioned, Angie Goethert, Daspit's opponent, denied any connection to the flyer, stating that neither she nor her campaign had any involvement, and she was unaware of its existence until it arrived in her mailbox.

The flyer was identified as having been sent by East Tennesseans for a Strong Education Inc.
